The FluxDM browser extension
The extension's only job is to hand downloads and videos from your browser to the FluxDM app on the same computer.
- When you download a file, or click Download video or Download with FluxDM, the extension sends the link, the file name,
the page address it came from, and the cookies for that link's website to the FluxDM app at
127.0.0.1(your own computer). Cookies are needed so downloads that require you to be signed in keep working. - To show which videos a page is playing, it looks at the addresses and content types of media the page loads. This list is kept in memory for the open tab only and is cleared when you leave the page.
- Your settings (file types to catch, the app's port) are stored in your browser.
- The extension never sends anything to us or to any other server, has no analytics, and shows no ads. Nothing it sees leaves your computer.
The FluxDM app
- License checks. To activate and keep your license valid, the app sends this website your license key, a device identifier and your PC's name and FluxDM version, about once a day. The device identifier is a one-way SHA-256 hash of Windows' machine ID, so it can't be turned back into your hardware details.
- Update checks. The app asks this website for the newest version number. Updates are downloaded from this website and checked against a fingerprint before installing.
- Optional helpers. If you agree, the app downloads yt-dlp, ffmpeg and Deno from their official GitHub pages.
- Your downloads, download history and settings stay on your PC. We never see what you download.
This website
- Your account holds your name, email, a securely hashed password and your license.
- For each license we keep the activated PC's name, its device identifier, the time and IP address of the last check-in, and a short history of activations, so we can show them to you and stop misuse.
- We use one session cookie to keep you signed in. No tracking or advertising cookies.
- We don't sell or share your data. It's stored with our hosting provider and used only to run FluxDM.
